Mary-Anne Singh) has completed a course accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (www.bacp.co.uk) and is a fully accredited Counsellor and psychotherapist with the BACP as well as a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Therapist.
She holds a Higher Advanced Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy awarded by Guildford College of Higher Education and adheres to the BACP ethical framework for good practice. She gained an OCN certificate in Counselling Supervision and is working towards becoming an Senior Accredited Supervisor with the BACP.
Mary-Anne is also an Accredited member of BICA since January 2012 (British Infertility Counselling Association). In addition to this she has a BA Honours Degree in Communications & Cultural Studies (Humanities) awarded by the University of Western England and has undergone many continued professional development courses in a wide range of areas to better assist clients individual needs most recently completing an NLP foundation certificate to compliment her Life Coaching work.
"In my professional capacity whilst working for Women's Aid I have worked directly with people who have experienced domestic abuse(www.womensaid.org.uk) and in the past I worked both one-to-one and in groups with young people in schools for the Department of Social Responsibility (D.S.R. - www.cofeguildford.org.uk) For many years I was also a contracted schools counsellor to Woking High School, Surrey (www.wokinghigh.surrey.sch.uk) which was a truly rewarding opportunity.
"I had the valuable opportunity to work as an honorary staff counsellor in a major NHS hospital (St.Helier - NHS Trust www.epsom-sthelier.nhs.uk) in Carshalton, Surrey providing staff nurses and doctors with vital psychotherapy support. I have also worked for Woking Counselling Service providing shorter term therapy to a wide variety of people in the Community and for Surrey Care Trust a charitable trust that supports children in foster care/need (www.surreycaretrust.co.uk).
I have excellent knowledge of relationship issues, isolation, separation & divorce, drugs,substance misuse and addiction and have worked extensively with young people (13-19 years) usually I work creatively with young people to help them to express difficult feelings.
I spent some time working for KCA www.kca.org.uk (a drug and alcohol misuse service) And set up a new counselling service in Wokingham (Berkshire) (2012) I have overseen trainee counsellors, arranged supervision and run workshops for groups in relaxation and building confidence and self-esteem".
Just over 7 years ago I worked for the NHS IAPT service specialising in supporting patients suffering from Anxiety and Depression where I broadened my training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and was often required to work to a brief therapy model.
As well as my private practice I now work part-time as A Fertility Counsellor and gained accreditation with BICA in 2012 - I work for one of the Largest Fertility Clinics in Europe - 'The Lister Fertility Clinic' in Chelsea www.ivf.org.uk where I support individuals, couples, donors and surrogates with the implications attached to fertility treatments and donation - I also provide training presentations there around safeguarding, donor conception implications and train other counsellors, I have very specialised knowledge and experience in this fascinating field.
