Mary-Anne Nickerson has completed a course accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (www.bacp.co.uk) She holds a Higher Advanced Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy awarded by Guildford College and she is currently working towards her full accreditation and adheres to the BACP ethical framework for good practice.
In addition to this she has a 2:2(BA Honours) Degree in Communications & Cultural Studies (Humanities) awarded by the University of Western England.
In my professional capacity I have had direct experience of working with Victims of Domestic Abuse for over a year and half and most recently I have been working both one to one and in groups with young people in schools aged 13-19 years who are from ethnic minorities. I had the valuable opportunity to work as a staff counsellor in a major hospital (St.Helier) in Carshalton, Surrey providing staff nurses and doctors with vital psychotherapy support as well as this I have also worked for Woking Counselling Service providing shorter term therapy to a wide variety of people in the Community.
I also have excellent knowledge of relationship issues, isolation, separation & divorce, drugs,substance misuse and addiction and working creatively with young people. Continued Professional Development workshops have been taken in the following:
